How To Deal With Stress pt. 3

One of the easiest ways to add stress to your life is to be the type of person who tries to please everybody. Unfortunately, this is me. Most of the time I'm focusing on making sure everyone else around me is happy. This isn't necessarily a bad thing - if you can deal with it. But most of the time, it will add a level of stress to your life. And secondly, whenever we try to please everyone else, it becomes easier to neglect the One we need to be striving to please the most. Which leads me to the third way to eliminate stress and that is;

KNOW WHO YOU ARE TRYING TO PLEASE

IN John 5:30, Jesus says, "I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgement is just because I seek not my own will but the will of Him who sent me." God should be the only person we are concerned with pleasing. But like I said, often times we focus on trying to please everybody else that we forget about pleasing God - who is the most important. If you try to please everyone, you'll just end up criticizing yourself - which will add so much stress to your life. God can't please everybody - there's always somebody who is going to be unhappy - why should we feel like we can please everybody? Just be who God wants YOU to be.

  1. good thoughts;
    "Be who God wants You to be".....
    we all need to zero in on that; I'm afraid we think as long as we give a little time to God, and we attend services regularly, that we can automatically be justified pursuing our other "stuff" the rest of the time. Of course that's another lesson in itself, but in the meantime we "STRESS" because we're always trying to please ourselves.
    thanks,
