Run Like a Champion

In Hebrews 12, the writer urges us to "Run the race that is set before us - setting aside all the things that weigh us down." As Christians, we need to constantly be making sure that we're running that race to get to Heaven.

In order to run like a champion, there are some things we need to realize:

First of all, we need to remember that we're pursuing a purpose. - Our purpose is to run the race and to one day FINISH and get to spend eternal life in Heaven. However, we need to realize that we're not in competition with other Christians. - But rather, we're in competition with the Devil and with our own desires and we HAVE to beat them.

Secondly, we need to prepare. Hebrews tells us to "lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily ensnares us."

And Thirdly we need to remind ourself that there is a prize at the end... Sometimes we get discouraged because we think that we'll never "get there" and we have a hard time keeping it in our minds since it isn't tangible. However, we need to remind ourselves that the prize we're pursuing is worth it all and we just can't miss it. It will definitely be worth it.

Are you running towards the prize?
